Refugees in the Community

On this website there are drop-off points where people can deliver music instruments destined for asylum seekers and refugees incarcerated in detention centres. The list can be found under Drop Off Points.

Unfortunately when a refugee is released from detention, he or she could still be traumatised and have enormous stress as part of their persona. Listed below are various caring organisation where all refugees can obtain assistance. Also listed are organisations where members of the public can offer their assistance to these unfortunate human beings. Music instruments and other items would be most appreciated - they can be delivered directly to these safe havens.

Please note that it would be best if you were to refer to the websites of these organisations, and also phone them, before embarking on any mission of assistance. It is not a good idea to just arrive without first checking what is needed and what times they are able to receive donations.

Finally, we have also listed a variety of other useful links where interesting information about refugees can be obtained.

Meanwhile if you know of any child or adult, refugee or non-refugee, who is having problems coping, print our "Who Am I?" sheet and give it to them. It has proven to be very popular for everyone at Villawood Detention Centre. “Who Am I?”
